Google used I/O to launch Gemini 3.5 Flash, expand Antigravity for developers, and push new AI features into Workspace.

Taken together, the announcements put Gemini across the full chain: model, agent tooling, and everyday work apps.

Today’s lineup

  • Gemini 3.5 Flash launches with Google saying it beats Gemini 3.1 Pro on most benchmarks while running four times faster than other frontier models.
  • Antigravity 2.0 adds a desktop app, dynamic subagents, scheduled tasks, and Managed Agents in the Gemini API.
  • Workspace gets Gmail Live, Docs Live, AI Inbox expansion, Google Pics, and a new 24/7 agent called Gemini Spark.

Google | Gemini 3.5 Flash goes live

Google kicked off the Gemini 3.5 family with 3.5 Flash, which it says outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro across coding and agentic benchmarks while running four times faster than other frontier models.

Google said 3.5 Flash is available today in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search, for developers through Google Antigravity and the Gemini API in AI Studio and Android Studio, and for enterprises through Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and Gemini Enterprise. Google also said Gemini 3.5 Pro is due next month.

Google | Antigravity 2.0 expands the build stack

Google also used I/O to expand the Antigravity stack. The new Antigravity 2.0 desktop app is positioned as a home for orchestrating multiple agents in parallel, with dynamic subagents, scheduled tasks, and integrations across AI Studio, Android, and Firebase.

On the API side, Google introduced Managed Agents in the Gemini API, which it says can spin up an agent that reasons, uses tools, and executes code in an isolated Linux environment with one call. Google AI Studio also gets native Android support so developers can go from prompt to Android app more directly.

Google Workspace | Voice, inbox help, and Gemini Spark

Workspace got a parallel set of AI updates. Google announced Gmail Live for voice search across your inbox, Docs Live for talking your way into a draft, and voice features in Keep for capturing and organizing notes without typing.

The same post also expands AI Inbox to Google AI Plus and Pro subscribers, introduces Google Pics for image creation and editing, and launches Gemini Spark, a 24/7 personal AI agent in the Gemini app that can integrate with Workspace apps and take action under a user's direction.

Why it matters now

Google did not treat I/O as a model-only event. The company packaged Gemini as a system that can reason, run tasks, and show up inside the tools people already use. That is the clearest same-day signal in AI news today.

What to watch next

Watch for Gemini 3.5 Pro next month, how quickly Managed Agents show up in real developer workflows, and whether Gemini Spark gets deeper permissions across Gmail, Drive, and Calendar.
